The units record noise levels and take pictures as part of a trial to reduce road noise pollution.

A noise-detecting traffic camera is to be trialled as part of a crackdown on "boy-racers", the government has said.

The government said road noise pollution contributed to health problems, such as heart attacks, strokes and dementia and lost productivity from sleep disturbance.The locations were chosen after MPs were asked to nominate noisy roads in their constituencies."These new cameras will help the police clamp down on those who break the legal noise limits or use illegal modified exhausts to make excessive noise in our communities," she said.
