The dancer has told how she recently spent time in ICU after her first round of chemotherapy treatment
Amy Dowden has bravely shared how she recently suffered a 'life-threatening' setback in her fight against cancer. The Strictly Come Dancing star is currently undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with stage three breast cancer.
But Amy has now shared how the celebration comes after she contracted sepsis shortly after her first round of chemotherapy earlier this month. Speaking in a new interview, the dancer explained how after the treatment, she was feeling a bit sick and her temperature rose to 37.5 degrees Celsius, which she didn’t realise could be ‘fatal’ to a chemotherapy patient.
Instagram She was eventually admitted to Walsall Manor Hospital where she was treated for a viral infection with an antibiotic drip, before her family was later informed that she was being treated for sepsis and was in the Intensive Care Unit ICU. Amy explained that now it’s understood that she contracted an infection before she began her chemotherapy, but they don’t know when or how it began.
