The PSNI won't issue custody photos of people jailed for serious offences - and is refusing to explain why

Custody photos, or mugshots as they are commonly known, serve the basic purpose of showing who committed the crime. A photo of the victim, mother-of-six Katrina Rainey, 53, was attached to the PSNI's emailed press release. It also says "being open with information in itself constitutes a policing purpose by supporting policing legitimacy".
