The decision to bring the American on against lazio was criticised but it was all smiles after 3-1 win over Kilmarnock.
It wasn't straightforward, but Brendan Rodgers had the metaphorical Celtic cigar out after their 3-1 win over Kilmarnock.
The champions bounced back from Wednesday's heartbreaking loss to Lazio with another three Premiership points after overcoming a spirited Killie side at Parkhead. Reo Hatate, Luis Palma and Greg Taylor were all on target as the Hoops moved ten points clear of Rangers at the top ahead of the Light Blues' Sunday trip to St Mirren. There was some controversy surrounding Palma's goal to make it 2-0, with debate raging over whether Hatate was offside or not in the build up.
Cameron Carter-Vickers returned to the starting lineup after making his injury comeback off the bench against Lazio. Some fans questioned why he was sent on after a lengthy layoff as the Romans sunk Celtic in the sixth minute of stoppage time with the American at least a little culpable for Pedro's winner.
But Rodgers was all smiles with the centre back as they made their way off the pitch at full-time. With Carter-Vickers back in the starting XI, the Hoops back line looks stronger after a recent run of defensive injuries. Liam Scales has really hit form and stepped up to the plate when needed. So the likes of Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke will need to really impress in order to dislodge the Irishman from alongside Carter-Vickers.
