Bridgerton season 2 review: Has it lost its edge?
WANTED! A Viscountess. Must be: Tolerable, dutiful, have suitable enough hips for childbearing and *have at least half a brain.Yes, you read right. The Viscount Bridgerton is looking for his bride – or at least that's how we hear it. Certainly from himself but more resolutely from his mother Lady Violet , who so kindly bellows to a room full of eligible women , "This is the season the Viscount intends to find a wife.
Come now bon , don't pout. There's no need to be too disappointed as the Viscount does indeed have a captivating story to tell, even if it is a little more subdued than Lady Daphne's. What does that equate to? A lot less steaminess initially and certainly more… edging, shall we say, as both the Viscount and Miss Sharma try to bury their affections for one another. Expect a lot of heavy panting – imagine a Bernese Mountain Dog at the peak of summer.
Once again the music is as strong as ever. The modern classical mash-ups are still very much in full swing but the way the instruments are played with is enjoyable. The jaunty yet impatient violin action that plays as Anthony trolls through eligible mistress after eligible mistress is perfection. You can almost feel his mounting pressure as the melody plays on, its faux merriment mirroring his attempts to keep it together.
