Brit dad died trying to save daughters from being swept out to sea while swimming in Algarve
A "HERO" British dad who died trying to save his two young daughters off a Portuguese beach has been named as financial consultant Trevor Pelling.A routine police investigation is underway following Mr Pelling's deathLocals and a nurse who was on the beach spent nearly an hour trying to save Mr Pelling before he was pronounced dead.in Encarnacao about an hour’s drive north-west of Lisbon.
This morning he was named in Portugal as a British financial specialist called Trevor Pelling, who was on holiday with his family and had been based in the Middle East for work reasons. “Three volunteer firefighter ambulances from Ericeira and two emergency and reanimation medical vehicles from Torres Vedras were also mobilised.
"The body of the dead man, who was of foreign nationality, was later transported by the volunteer firefighters to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Torres Vedras. He added: “The whole family were on the beach, the father, mother and their two daughters. It was a beach that didn’t have any lifeguards on it because the lifeguard service doesn’t start till June 12.
