Sir Jim Ratcliffe finally appears set to purchase a 25% stake in Man United following Sheikh Jassim's decision to drop out of the takeover race
British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe could be set to purchase a 25% stake in Manchester United after Qatari banker Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani pulled out of the takeover race.
The move comes following the announcement by the current owners to seek strategic alternatives last November. Since then, however, fans have been left frustrated by a lack of progress - although an ending now finally appears in sight.
Football is not the only passion of Ratcliffe's as his Ineos group are the backers of cycling team Ineos Grenadiers, formerly Team Sky. Although he has supported United since he was a child, after moving to London, Ratcliffe became a season ticket holder at Chelsea.
