People have mixed feelings over the government's new move

Brits have reacted to Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's plans to scrap A-Levels and make pupils study maths until the age of 18. The news comes as the PM made the announcement during the Conservative Party Conference at the Manchester Central Convention Complex.

The substantial A-level reform would see English and maths become compulsory until the age of 18, while pupils would be required to study a wider array of subjects in post-16 education. Rishi Sunak has previously said all pupils in England should study some form of maths up to the age of 18, criticising a “cultural sense that it’s OK to be bad at maths”.

"3/ Our new plan will require more teachers in the coming years. So to attract and retain teachers, those who teach key subjects in both schools and further education colleges will receive new special bonuses of up to £30,000 tax-free over their first five years. Online_poaster said: "After a difficult few years #RishiSunak decides to create even more chaos for students by scrapping the exams they're studying for. What a failure." Kevp88 commented: "Having done maths and English at a levels it isn't any value unless you plan to go into something that needs it."
