Schools in Preston, Chorley, East Lancs and Wyre shut due to freezing temperatures

Two schools in Wyre and a school in Pendle have also had to close today due to the freezing temperatures.– The school said it is staying shut due to ‘adverse weather and Covid’.– The headteacher said: “The drive, the only entrance into the school building, is in a very icy state this morning with large patches of black ice. The staff car park is also one big patch of black ice.

The headteacher said: “Due to the temperature, which was -4°, all staff were sent home as it was too cold to work. Pupils are to access work via the website. The school awaits the arrival of an engineer – hopefully school can reopen tomorrow .
