Former Man Utd midfielder Roy Keane called for Fernandes to be stripped of the captain's armband following Sunday's Premier League defeat to Manchester City
Bruno Fernandes's captaincy has been thrown back under the spotlight following Manchester United's 3-0 defeat to bitter rivals Manchester City on Sunday.
"Today having watched him again I would take the captaincy off him 100 per cent," Sky Sports pundit Keane said on Super Sunday. "Fernandes is a brilliant footballer but in terms of captain material he is the opposite to what I would want in a captain." "The manager liked my discipline and passion and everything I give," midfielder Fernandes said. "The manager chose me because of what I was doing last season and the way he worked with me.
"I think every player always can improve and also Bruno. One of his great skills is emotion and football needs emotion," Ten Hag said shortly after revealing his new captain over the summer.
