Burnley Borough Council has been approached by the Royal Society for the Blind regarding A-boards

Burnley is set to take action to prevent pop-up A-boards outside businesses obstructing the blind and disabled using the pavements.

The exchange took place at last week’s full meeting of Burnley Council. Cllr Birtwistle said: ”I have been approached by the Royal Society for the Blind regarding A-boards.“Could you explain the licensing requirements for A-boards? There’s a large number of A-boards appearing across the town outside shops and things like that and basically the blind people can’t see them.

“I was approached by an elderly lady who was blind the other day and she said the only use for those A-boards was as something for her blind dog to cock its leg up against. She said they are the most dangerous piece of pavement junk there is because the dogs don’t actually pick them up very well.
