The 'bus gate' in Stockport town centre is being 'decommissioned' for three months
A controversial 'bus gate' in Stockport is to be temporarily switched off whilst work on the town's new transport interchange is completed.
Cameras are in force with those passing through being fined £60, reduced to £30 if paid within 21 days. However today , Stockport Council have announced that traffic will be temporarily permitted to use it.READ MORE: Police issue two-day dispersal order around church after man attacked As a result, the town hall says the bus gate is being 'decommissioned' for a period of three months. The cameras are being switched off and won't be turned back on until the work is completed. They said signs will be covered up, and new signs erected. However, they said motorists will still be asked to use the Travis Brow Link Road to access the M60 at junction 1.
