Friends and family paid tribute to a unique character who touched so many lives
The funeral of Peter Mickle, known fondly to many as Pete the Busker, was held at Landican Crematorium in Wirral today and saw friends, family and those whose lives he touched come together to share stories, pay tributes and say goodbye a one-of-a-kind character.
His death led to a huge outpouring of love from across the region, with many commenting that Church Street will never be the same without Peter's plastic microphone, bright suits and distinctive singing style.His coffin was carried into the crematorium today, adorned with one of his favourite suits and a small plastic guitar and those gathered heard fond memories of Peter from his family.
She added: "He was a busking legend and an awful singer - he knew that but he didn't care. He told awful jokes, he loved to make people smile. He was a very generous man who loved to entertain people." Having returned to Wirral he had worked as a chef in pubs and restaurants, but it was in later life that Lee said Peter 'found his calling' in the form of his 'unique singing and colourful suits' as he entertained the people of Merseyside with his busking.Lee said the family have been 'overwhelmed' by the enormous response to Peter's death, adding: "We didn't know how much of a legend he was, to us he was just Uncle Peter.
