"To state the obvious, drivers are central, not tangential, to Uber and Lyft’s entire ride-hailing businesses," Schulman added. Uber did not immediately respond to ABC News' multiple requests for comment Tuesday. A spokesperson for the company Rideshare driver Peter Hong, 67, joins a car caravan at a protest by Uber and Lyft drivers against the upcoming California Proposition 22 ballot measure, which exempts rideshare companies from classifying their drivers as employees, in Los Angeles, Aug. 6, 2020.
