Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II on 8 September, Camilla has taken on the role of Queen Consort with King Charles III becoming the new reigning monarch
Camilla has stepped into her new role as Queen Consort with 'extraordinary grace' but it has not 'been easy for her', according to a royal expert.
Speaking on BBC One, Elizabeth: "The Queen Consort came from a very normal background and she’s stepped up and into this role with extraordinary grace and dignity. It has not been easy for her." Camilla, formerly known as the Duchess of Cornwall, immediately became Queen Consort following Her Majesty's death.
However, earlier this year Queen Elizabeth II had said it was her 'sincere wish' for Camilla to be known as Queen Consort when her eldest son Charles takes to the throne.
