Clean river campaigners have questioned Thérèse Coffey’s decision to request more plans to tackle sewage discharges from water companies rather than set tougher targets 💧 CapurrodDaniel reports
:“I’m not really sure the minister understands the urgency of the crisis facing our rivers. To be simply asking the water companies what their plans are is a woefully inadequate response.
Stuart Singleton-White, head of campaigns at the Angling Trust, said, “The secretary of state may be adroit at getting a headline, but that is far from meaningful action that is going to make a difference to our rivers.”
