Police and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service attended the incident
Emergency services were called to reports of a fire at the car park near to the hospital's Broadoak unit at around 9.30pm on Monday, August 28. At the scene fire crews found a car fully alight.
A witness told the ECHO that the car had "exploded" as it caught flames. A spokesperson for Merseyside police confirmed that they attended and said the car "rolled" into the building.A short time later, officers handed over the incident to fire crews. Three fire engines attended, while one firefighter used a high-pressure hose to put out the blaze.
A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service said: "[Crews] attended an incident in a car park at Broadgreen Hospital, Liverpool, on 28 August. Crews were alerted at 9.37pm and on scene at 9.41pm. Three fire engines attended alongside Merseyside Police. "On arrival crews found one vehicle fully involved in fire. One firefighter under general observation used a high-pressure hose reel jet to extinguish the fire.
"The fire was soon extinguished and crews remained on scene to damped down the vehicle and check the surrounding area for fire spread. Crews left the scene at 10.50pm."
