The bizarre scene of a car left dangling over a bridge saw a quick-thinking passenger dive in to the canal to avoid injury. The red Vauxhall Corsa was spotted barely hanging on the destroyed bridge on Langley Road, Wolverhampton in the early hours of Saturday morning.
The Vauxhall, which had two passengers inside, had both airbags deployed but somehow did not fall into the water with both people involved in the crash said to be without injury. Police moved to close off the road to the public after being alerted at around 2am while specialist teams worked to recover the car from its position. One passenger was said to have been forced to dive in to the water below to escape the predicament.
