Middlesbrough boss Michael Carrick says there is no rush to make a decision regarding Sam Greenwood's future at the Riverside despite a brilliant spell. The Leeds United academy graduate joined Boro on a season-long loan with the Teessiders holding a reported £1.5million option to buy at the end of his temporary tenure.
The decision to insert a £1.5million option into the deal came as a lesson from last season, with Boro heavily reliant on loan players who showed no intent to rejoin after missing out on promotion. Carrcik has kept his cards close to his chest regarding the long-term future of Greenwood.He told the Gazette after the draw with Plymouth Argyle: “Time will tell on that. At the moment he’s doing well for us and we’re delighted to have him.
"He’s good quality and he offers a lot on the ball. His flexibility in that and how hard he works out of possession with his aggression, he gives us an awful lot.
