The mystery of the reappearing cars...
The council confirmed the cars were investigated and found not to have been abandoned, but said they were breaking parking restrictions and enforcement action was taken.
A council spokesperson said: “No vehicles were removed as part of the enforcement action, but it is not uncommon for motorists to move a vehicle once in receipt of a penalty charge notice.”The next day the man saw two of the cars, which had been removed with five penalty charge notices, had returned and appeared to have already picked up new notices.
The council said it did not know who removed the vehicles but added if they were moved it was likely the owner, who has now begun to re-park them.It confirmed that it will continue to issue charges while pursuing previous notices through the DVLA to find out who the cars belong to and issue a formal statutory notice.
