Cate Blanchett on feeling socially awkward: “I’m not comfortable, I’m not relaxed. It’s all acting”, a new release from acclaimed filmmaker Todd Field, is set in the highbrow world of classical music. It stars Blanchett as a fictional orchestra conductor, Lydia Tár, who is the first-ever female chief conductor of a major German orchestra and considered one of the greatest living composers and conductors of her time.
In the film’s new trailer, we learn more about the towering industry status of Blanchett’s character, who is “one of only 15 EGOTs, meaning those who have won all four major entertainment awards”, and get a glimpse into her family life with her partner and daughter.
