Nottinghamshire Police says it was a 'completely unnecessary act'
Police have released a CCTV image of a man after two van windows were smashed at a Nottingham Retail Park. The damage was inflicted on two British Gas vehicles at around 1.38pm on Tuesday, September 5 at Beechdale Retail Park, Beechdale Road.
Nottinghamshire Police said a man arrived at the retail park from the direction of Western Boulevard, walked by Costa Coffee, and then used a hammer to smash the windscreens of the vans. No one was inside the vehicles when the windows were shattered. Officers added the suspect had walked back towards Western Boulevard afterward. Police have now released a CCTV image of a man who they want to trace in relation to the crime. He has been described as a bald white man, who is around 5ft 8in tall and in his 50s. Police said he was wearing black joggers, a dark-coloured top, trainers and carrying a green rucksack.
PC Maria Georgiou-Scott, who is investigating the incident, said: “This was a completely unnecessary act which would have undoubtedly caused problems for those working for British Gas who needed these vans to carry out their roles within the community. “We have released a CCTV image of a man which could help us with our inquiries. Do you recognise the man in the picture? Are you the man in the picture? We would encourage you to contact Nottinghamshire Police as soon as possible.” Police have asked anyone with information to call 101 quoting incident number 0344 of September 5 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
