However, by the middle of the first-half those seats began to fill and the scene was described as a ‘sea of Moroccan flags’ as supporters chanted for their team and jeered every time Portugal players touched the ball. Morocco took the lead just minutes before half-time through Youssef En-Nesyri’s header, with Portugal hitting the crossbar through Bruno Fernandes just moments later.
The winner will face either England or France next week, and therefore take one step closer towards the final.
