Charlotte Flair has been here many times. Her seventh WrestleMania match is this weekend at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif., and she enters WrestleMania 39 as the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion. In all seven matches, she was either a champion heading into the match or challenging for a title.
Coming back as a babyface, a “good guy,” a role you haven’t played in quite a while, how has that experience gone? She’s really got something going with Dominik Mysterio beside her. What are your thoughts of what he’s done and the dynamic he creates in this story? Well, I can beat my dad’s record for one, to hold the most world titles in the company. to have a mixed tag match with Bad Bunny. I think it’s just because we put so many labels like “first, first, first” for women. When a guy’s a world champion, you don’t go “What’s next?” You want him to be world champion.
Well, I want to tag team with Bad Bunny. I want to wrestle with my husband, whether that’s being his manager or a mixed tag couple, I don’t know. I just take it day by day. I feel like I get better every year. I think that says a lot, considering I have done it all, that I’m still not complacent. I don’t think anyone thought women would main event WrestleMania 35 when we did. So in my mind, I still think that I’m going to work hard to create something that people thought was unobtainable.
Ronda’s debut match at was one of the best debut matches I’ve ever seen. Having the opportunity to work with her, from a personal standpoint, I admire so much what she was able to create and do for women within the UFC. I don’t want to use the word “inspiring” because it’s so cliché, but what she was able to accomplish is what I’ve always wanted to accomplish within our little world. Then, getting the opportunity to work her, she is an extremely fast learner and listens really well.
