The popular family attraction confirmed the news to customers via email and on social media over the weekend, after extreme weather was forecast for Cheshire. Record temperatures are predicted to hit the UK this week and an amber warning is in place.
“Due to these extreme temperatures, we’re sorry to say we’re going to have to keep our gates closed on Monday 18 & Tuesday 19 July to ensure the safety of our staff, visitors, animals and plants. Don’t worry, the animals will be looked after and kept cool under the watchful eyes of our amazing zookeepers.
“We are so, so sorry for postponing any plans to visit and we really hope you’ll understand. Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming you to the zoo soon. Chester Zoo”.
