Lancashire childminder receives third consecutive 'Outstanding' award from Ofsted
in which an inspector praised her for valuing children’s voices and for being an ‘excellent role-model’ to the seven young children in her care. The childminder received an Outstanding award in all categories; quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management, resulting in an overall Outstanding award.
“Children in my care thrive on every level. It means an enormous amount to me that every child is listened to and when they wish to speak they feel that they can and they know that they are heard.” Inspector Susie Millward Sampson noted in her report: “Children thrive and delight in learning with this outstanding childminder. From a young age, they learn that their voice is important.
The report acknowledges Claire’s strong links with the local primary schools and how she works with teachers to find the most useful way of sharing information about children’s progress. She also shares the knowledge she gains from her regular training to other childminders who say she is an inspiration, whose guidance helps them improve their own practice.
Claire is registered to care for and teach 0-14 years of age but taught children aged 0-11 at the time of the inspection. The former Notre Dame Grammar school pupil also does nature trails and sensory activities with the children.
