With the Blues leading by a single goal in the second-half, the left-back found himself inside the opposition box and one-on-one with the goalkeeper, albeit on his weaker right foot.
Chilwell bizarrely chose to attempt a pass to teammate Raheem Sterling, which appeared more difficult to execute than a shot at goal. With three defenders on the cover, the pass failed to reach its intended target and a collective groan around Stamford Bridge told the 26-year-old he made a terrible mistake.
Speaking on commentary, Liverpool legend Carragher said: "I can't believe what I've just seen. It’s awful. It really is. Such poor decision-making."
