China's Xi Jinping hails Putin as 'progressive force' but ducks question of military alliance with Russia
have expressed commitment to the alliance between their countries in different terms at a time of apparent weakness for both strongman leaders in a video call on Friday.
The Russian leader went on to state his expectation that President Xi would visit Moscow in Spring, and to talk up military partnerships between the powers. President Jinping did not address military cooperation in the call on Friday but instead praised Russia for diplomatic efforts to resolve the conflict.
