There is no time limit to starting a compensation claim when a child has suffered cerebral palsy as a result of suspected medical negligence
Cerebral palsy is a complex disability that can affect up to all four limbs. The reasons for a child developing the condition are sometimes unknown. In a small number of cases, cerebral palsy can result following oxygen deprivation suffered before, during or just after a baby is born.
Cerebral palsy solicitor Diane Rostron said: “For some families, a pregnancy can be considered low risk, and progress normally without incident. In the absence of careful, and appropriately regular monitoring throughout, and up to the safe delivery of the baby, warning signs that medical intervention is needed can be missed.
“Millions of women give birth to perfectly healthy babies every year. For a small number of families, avoidable medical errors result in their child suffering permanent harm. Cerebral palsy is a complex, lifelong disability with children requiring 24-hour care, specialist equipment, adapted homes and a range of ongoing specialist therapies.
“Experts in cerebral palsy claims will have existing relationships with the right independent medical experts and leading barristers in order to help families gain answers, and secure the multi-million-pound claims their child is entitled to.
