, also known simply as Chris and also now as Redcar, has always been on a journey to know himself.
Having left his native France to find community among the drag artists of London, he began making gorgeously wonky pop that was as much about the movement of his body as it was the stark drama and sparkling joy of its sounds.and navigated the grief of losing his mother: it is these huge, existential moments that he explores on, swapping the clean top lines of his earlier work for dirgey swamps of sound and rambling verses as he pans for gold among the mud of life.
Named for the red cars that he began seeing everywhere after his mother’s death, it is a long exploration that takes in Enya-ish lilts and sharp beats that remind me of an 80s
