One man shared the alert on social media, and warned that keeping them on the tree could lead to an insect infestation.
People are being warned to thoroughly check their Christmas trees for 'walnut-sized' lumps that contain thousand of insect eggs.
A man previously went viral on social media for posting the warning, but it has since circulated again as the Christmas season gets closer and closer. Daniel Reed said: "If you happen to see a walnut sized or shaped egg mass on your Christmas tree, don’t fret, clip the branch and put it in your garden. These are 100-200 preying mantis eggs!The post has been shared thousands of times, with people claiming they had found the same clump on their trees.
