Plans have emerged that could see the Lewis's building transformed
A man has said the 'city centre does not need more bars' after plans to transform the Lewis's building were proposed.
Augur's plans involve repurposing the vacant areas of the site into a mixed-use development, including food, drink and leisure facilities. Potential uses of the spaces include a food hall and new retail functions, themed bars and brewery areas among other things.Among the changes proposed for the building would be facilitating the use of the Dickie Lewis entrance on the corner of the building.
However, the plans did not impress one reader, who got in touch via the ECHO's reader's letter portal. Peter Conroy, from Liverpool, said: "Regarding your article about the old Lewis's building, can I just say that Liverpool City Centre does not need more bars. The council could stand to benefit from £315,000 in business rates. A date for the plans to be considered by the planning department has not yet been established.
