Being together is what Glastonbury is all about. Community – that’s the eternal message 💬 via ipaperviews
I’m usually on site by mid-morning for the script meeting. This is when I get together with the TV producers and we go through the plan for the shows that day. It never fails to amaze me how much there is to cover and how many corners of Glastonbury there are to explore. In 2016 for example I went from broadcasting from a trapeze in the Theatre and Circus Fields to introducing Adele’s debut Pyramid Stage set on BBC Two.
The broadcast points are quite spread out, which means a buggy or car is often needed to make the dash between them. When I can though, I love the walk. I’m always bumping into friends and former colleagues that I haven’t seen for ages, as well as meeting my Radio 1 listeners too. Glastonbury is especially good for that.
The most exhilarating part of my day has to be presenting the live shows in the evening, and in particular introducing headline acts on the Pyramid Stage. It’s a moment that both terrifies me and that I can’t wait for. We do the live television link in the middle of the Pyramid Stage crowd where the mixing desk is for the headliner. I have the voice of the director in my earpiece telling me how many seconds left until we’re live.

I am such a big fan so it was truly an honour. His set had so much drama. It was like a fine ballet, rap cypher against himself, a beautiful opera and a festival show all in one. He showed us everything a rap performance can be.
