This Is Rigged protestors used specialist climbing gear to scale the giant steel horse head
Police have been called after two climate change activists climbed a 100ft Kelpie statue in Falkirk. Pictures shared by the pressure group This Is Rigged show the protestors using specialist climbing gear to scale the giant steel horse head.
The latest demonstration follows a week of action outside two oil terminals in nearby Grangemouth and Clydebank, West Dunbartonshire. The group are calling on the Scottish Government to oppose new fossil fuel projects. “This means unemployment, insecurity and exploitation for workers as well as fossil-fueled climate collapse. Horses powered our past and renewables power our future. Continuing fossil fuel extraction will power nothing but our death.”
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We are aware of two protestors who have climbed The Kelpies, at Helix Park in Falkirk. Officers are in attendance."
