The former Brewery Inn, in Barrow, is being converted
Plans have been approved to convert a former pub in Barrow into two Houses of Multiple Occupancy . Westmorland and Furness Council has granted conditionally an application from St David Group to transform the former Brewery Inn on Cavendish Street into a five bed HMO on the ground floor and a seven bed HMO across the first and second floors.
According to the planning statement the property is currently a three-storey empty building that previously consisted of a pub and residential accommodation that was let out. Each room will have an en-suite bathroom and there will be communal kitchen and dining facilities.The planning statement also addresses concerns over the loss of a pub in Barrow Town Centre.
However, concerns have been raised over the provision of parking for the future tenants. In response to the application Barrow Town Council commented: “Not a suitable area of Town for the additional parking requirements this proposal would require.”
