Residents in South Belfast feared they would need to sandbag their homes after roads flooded following heavy rain this week

Lisnasharragh Green Party Councillor Brian Smyth said that he was contacted by a number of concerned residents living in the area who feared their homes were at risk of being flooded on Monday due to Rosetta Road flooding and the water reaching their property lines.He said: "Following the heavy rain on Monday I had a number of residents contact me fearing that their homes would be flooded due to the amount of water approaching their homes in the Rosetta area.

"Ten years ago in 2012 a number of homes in these areas suffered from flood damage and residents are concerned that this could happen again if measures are not put in place to address extreme weather and rainfall, which is likely to become more common in the future. A Departmental spokesperson said: “The Department received reports of flooding in the Knockbreda/Rosetta area during a period of heavy and prolonged rain on Monday evening.
