Conleth Hill stars in new show The Power of Parker set in the 90s alongside Sian Gibson and tells all about playing Martin Parker whose perfect life begins to fall apart
Irishman Conleth Hill stars in 90s-set comedy-drama The Power Of Parker as Martin Parker, the Mancunian owner of Parker’s Power & Electricals. A self-made man, Martin prides himself on being a local celebrity, and the new show had Conleth reflecting on his own life at the time.
“I don’t know how anybody can have an affair, let alone do it for that long – it’s awful but it does happen,” says Conleth. “Martin’s definitely a man of his time, which I think covers a multitude of sins, and he’s at the top of his game on paper. But the very first shot you see is the business going up in flames, and you don’t know why.”
The show truly transports us back to the late 80s to early 90s with the big hair, huge TV sets, tanning beds, faux plants and a soundtrack straight from the dancefloor.
