Corrie star confirms double return after cobbles exit
Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney has revealed when her character, Cassandra "Cassie" Plummer, will be returning to the ITV soap.
Appearing on Wednesday's Lorraine, the actress said: "I'm back on August 16th on screen and I'm back in the thick of filming, working with the wonderful Alan Halsall [Tyrone]. He’s so good, and Maureen [Lipman, who plays Evelyn] , and Sally Carman [Abi Franklin] as well, I love it." Taking to Twitter, Claire wrote: "Had so many lovely comments about my first scene in @itvcorrie with the amazing Dame Maureen Lipman. Written by @Iankershaw and directed by Abe Dukes. Thanks for all your kind words, feel very grateful."
Another follower wrote: "Congrats on a great first two episodes claire, you and maureen are AMAZING together i can't wait to see more of cassie. i love her already." And things went from bad to worse when Cassie and Tyrone came face-to-face in nail-biting scenes. However, Tyrone had no clue that the woman he was speaking to was in fact his long-lost mother.
