The second part of the £900 cost of living support for those on means-tested benefits
UK Government statistics show that 8.3million cost of living payments for £301 were made earlier this year to people in receipt of a qualifying means-tested benefit from the Department for Work and Pensions or HM Revenue and Customs . A further 6.4mil payments for £150 were recently made to people claiming disability benefits.
One thing you won’t find here is speculation on the payment dates. We will update this article once that information has been announced. Below is a checklist that should help you understand whether or not you will be due the £300 payment. If you’re getting Tax Credits from HMRC and a low income benefit from DWP, you will be paid by DWP only. If you’re getting both Child Tax Credit and Working Tax Credit, you will receive the £300 for Child Tax Credit only, which will be paid by HMRC.
Universal Credit ‘nil awards’ Guidance on GOV.UK explains: "You will not be eligible for the Cost of Living Payment if your benefit is reduced to £0 for the qualifying period." This is sometimes called a ‘nil award’.You may still be eligible for a cost of living payment if your benefit is reduced to £0 and one of the following applies:
