The shake up could be big
A special meeting of Pendle Council has been called to consider significant changes to how planning decisions are made.
Examples in the past year have included dealing with the unauthorised use of a former ambulance station in Nelson for a car tyres business and, more recently, use of green belt land near Brierfield for a dog rehabilitation business. But the role of councillors in planning has been the focus of disagreement between different parties. in dealing with planning applications.
A working group with various councillors was created to consider planning arrangements for the future. Now, the recommendations will be looked at during the extraordinary meeting on October 18 at Nelson Town Hall, starting at 7pm.
