Thousands of families across South Lanarkshire have benefited from the range of resources the council has introduced to tackle the cost of living crisis.

“It’s not just the council, although the council played a huge important part in this, but it’s also the community groups of various kinds and I think the central government should be aware just how important the local responses are to these things.” And given the success of the fund in distributing cash to households coupled with advice and support, it is proposed to re-direct funding earmarked for the provision of energy vouchers in 2023/24 to a further round of wellbeing payments.
And two dedicated energy advisers were employed at a cost of £75,000 to support households in managing their energy costs and consumption. From being employed in September 2022 until the end of the financial year, the Energy Advisers dealt with 561 clients and opened 1035 cases, of which 351 were energy cases.
