The theme park attracted tourists to the area for 20 years
A couple say they have bought their dream home on the site of a former theme park. The American Adventure attracted visitors to the outskirts of Ilkeston for 20 years, opening in 1987 and running until its closure in 2007.
Jacqui Hamilton, 25, and Tony Cockerill, 30, have recently bought their dream home on the site, after upsizing from their shared home near Ilkeston. Jacqui, a financial capability and student success officer, said, “We found our old home lacked the space we needed with no dining room and a very small kitchen."We really couldn’t fit more than one person in there at a time so didn’t have space to entertain.
"We’re also thinking ahead to when we’ll have children, and wanted enough space in a home they could grow up in.” Tony added: “The Birkwith has plenty of space with the open layout. As well as enjoying the extra space, the couple also love having a quality home in a beautiful location. Tony said: “We knew others moving into the Shipley area and were keen to discover what Harron Homes had to offer.
