Good luck!
A married couple in Nottinghamshire training for the ‘world’s toughest row’ battling 30-foot waves and rowing up to 16 hours a day for weeks are hoping to raise thousands for charity. They’re aiming to become the fastest mixed pair to ever complete the challenge of rowing 3,000 miles across the Atlantic Ocean.
After losing her former partner to cancer in 2020, Jooles promised him she would take on the journey she has always wanted to complete. Jooles is no stranger to rowing. The rowing coach said: “Just doing the whole thing is a massive challenge. I'm excited to see all the wildlife out there and just getting off the wheel of the treadmill of life, because I think we all get stuck in a rut of doing work, doing the school run, and having to make the packed lunches.
The couple is hoping to raise thousands for charity and needs to raise £150,000 just to take part in the race, which is in December 2025. After his friend rode the Pacific Ocean in 2013, they recommended doing the challenge to Ian. He said: “Crossing is the important bit, to actually make it across safely is our priority, and then it's about the record, there’s a record out there for mixed pairs which we would really like to do. With our current boat it's a little bit out of reach which is why we’re looking for corporate sponsorship but as soon as we got together through lockdown we thought: this is it.
