Lawyers representing the Scottish Government have attacked a Westminster attempt to block the Gender Recognition Reform Bill.
Scotland's top court has been urged to overturn a UK Government attempt to block a law that would make it easier for people to change their legally recognised gender.
The Tory Scottish Secretary had argued the GRR Bill would be incompatible with existing UK equalities laws. The Lord Advocate said if Jack really had concerns about the contents of the Holyrood legislation he would have raised it during multiple public consultations before it was passed. Judge Lady Haldane, presiding over the hearing, told Bain there was no requirement for the UK Government to consult with Scottish ministers before issuing a Section 35.
