Sexual offences rose by 27 per cent in Shropshire, with 819 offences, and 12 per cent in Telford & Wrekin, with 704 offences. Powys recorded a 53 per cent rise in sexual offences, with 449.Drugs offences have however fallen, down 21 per cent, from 2,725 to 2,158, along with anti-social behaviour, down 37 per cent, from 56,055 to 35,408.
"As people have returned to a more normal way of life and public areas reopened so has the likelihood a crime could take place, in particular outside the home. John Campion, West Mercia's Police and Crime Commissioner, said the rise had been reflected across the country.
