'There are serious challenges that come with cancelling a concert at short notice.'

The management of concerts and events at a former military base in Derry by Stormont authorities has come in for criticism after the future of four concerts was thrown into doubt.

The BBC has reported that the Executive Office at Stormont, which has responsibility for Ebrington, had written to concert organisers around possible legal action from a third party if the concerts proceed. "It's to be celebrated that we're finally seeing Ebrington coming to fruition - progress there has been painfully slow," he said.

DUP MLA Gary Middleton, also speaking to Belfast Live, said: "I'm concerned that so late into the year and just a matter of weeks away, the Executive Office has sent a letter seemingly withdrawing approvals that were in place. He continued: "Millions of pounds have been spent on Ebrington to bring it up to a standard to where it oculd be used as an events space - similar to what you would see in other cities, in Belfast for example with Custom House Square. We want to ensure that if an event is secured for the city that it actually goes ahead as planned, and not cancelled in a short space of time.
