The 'cruel, calculated' baby killer was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court today and has been told she will never be released from prison
Baby killer Lucy Letby has today been sentenced to a whole-life order which means she will die in prison.
'The babies you harmed were born prematurely and some were at risk of not surviving but in each case you deliberately harmed them, intending to kill them.'Mr Goss said no one will never truly know what caused Letby to carry out the murders.In delivering the sentence, Mr Goss added: ''You killed 7 fragile babies and attempted to kill 6 others. Some of your victims were only a day or a few days old. All were extremely vulnerable.
This is the most serious punishment in the UK justice system. If a person is given this sentence, they will never be released from prison, except in exceptional circumstances. In solidarity, and insisting on Letby's innocence still, her parents also refused to attend the hearing.Letby was convicted of her crimes at Manchester Crown Court on Friday 18 August after her trial began at Manchester Crown Court on 10 October 2022.
