A dad who hosts a dazzling Christmas light display at his house has had to cancel it this year due to energy costs.

Iain Fleming is known for decorating his home with hundreds of bright lights and festive features and has done so for around 13 years. Last year, he went bigger than ever with a huge six-metre Christmas tree and hosted a switch-on that around 900 people attended, raising money for the Les Hoey Dreammaker Foundation. But the dad-of-three, from Hamilton, told his Facebook followers that due to the 'energy situation', he will not be able to run the display this year.

He said:"Due to various reasons, one being the current energy situation the Christmas Light Display will not take place this year.Locals soon expressed their disappointment at the news, with one commenting:"Last year was an amazing atmosphere when the lights were turned on, a great build-up to Christmas. Totally understand and expected it to be cancelled this year."

Another said:"I think a lot of people won't be putting up outdoor lights this year, you can't blame them with the high cost of electricity."
