Dad-of-eight who 'never drank or smoked' hit with devastating diagnosis after routine test
A Manchester nurse pleaded with her brother to get checked for cancer, only to reveal a devastating diagnosis. Dad-of-eight Mike Crowe was ‘always very health conscious’ but ‘shied away’ from getting a prostate exam.
“I never drank or smoked and in my head there was nothing I could have done better to prevent this. The next day I got up and told myself, ‘I can beat this’.” Prostate cancer is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and treatable if caught early. Tackling the disease at stages one and two has a near 100 per cent survival rate compared to around 50 per cent at stage four, according to NHS research.
In the latest part of the campaign, prostate cancer survivor and TV personality, Dominic Littlewood joins TV doctor, Dr Hilary Jones in a powerful new film to raise awareness of symptoms that could be cancer and encourage those with these symptoms to contact their GP practice.
