Green Party MP Caroline Lucas, Dragons’ Den star Deborah Meaden, and retail consultant and broadcaster Mary Portas have also joined the campaign. The letter reads: ‘Barclays is financing and profiting from climate chaos, and accepting a sponsorship deal from them is an endorsement of these actions.’‘We hope you will reconsider and end your partnership with Barclays,’ the letter said on behalf of those questioning Wimbledon’s decision.
Wimbledon, which also has a partnership with Rolex, announced Barclays as its official banking partner in November, taking over from HSBC.
